Everton are the latest club to be linked with a big money transfer bid for Porto winger Yacine Brahimi. There has been a summer of speculation linking the Algerian with a move to the Premiership, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea all being mentioned.
According to a Sky Sports report today, the Toffee’s have opened talks with Porto about a transfer for the winger who is understood to be valued at around £40 million. Their sources have reported that talks have ‘progressed well’, but that the player has a preference for clubs that can offer him Champions League football.
The increased interest in Brahimi comes off the back of a couple of impressive seasons with Porto, which has seen him develop into one of the best attackers in Portuguese football. His stats from last season stood at 10 goals and 11 assists in 49 appearances
Earlier in the summer Portuguese news source A Bola reported that Klopp had come ‘very close’ to signing the 26 year old. Speaking about the potential for more incoming players before the transfer window shuts, Klopp stated: ‘I wait for the day when the transfer window is closed.’
‘I can’t believe how obsessed you all are with this. What will happen we will see, I don’t know in this moment, but we do not have a preferred position to sign players.’
