Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic is set to make a deadline day move away from Anfield according to reports by the Liverpool Echo. The 22-year-old Serbian has failed to make an impact since his £20 million transfer to Liverpool back in 2014 and is now set for a return to Portugal.
Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon have been in talks with Markovic, who would be allowed to leave the Reds for a figure of around £16 million. Kop boss Jurgen Klopp is understood also to be open to letting Markovic leave on a season long loan as a way to allow him to play regular first team football.
Markovic spent an injury strewn loan spell at Fenerbahce last season and has been unable to make his way into Klopp’s plans for this season which means that despite initially wanting to stay at Anfield, Markovic is having to consider other options as the summer transfer window comes to a close.
