Mourinho readying £42M bid for Real Madrid legend

The transfer window may have only just shut, but that doesn’t stop the transfer rumour mill. According to Calciomercato Jose Mourinho wants to land himself a Galactico with a £42 million bid for Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos.

Ramos turned down the opportunity to join United last year, instead opting to sign a new 5 year deal with Real. This hasn’t deterred Mourinho, who is reported to be set to try to convince Ramos to reconsider making a move to Old Trafford.

Speaking after United’s previous attempt to sign him Ramos spoke of his loyalty to Madrid, stating: ‘There was an offer from United.’

‘I considered changing for a while, but Real Madrid was always my priority and there were no economic reasons.’

‘Did I feel cheated by Madrid? No, but I did feel disappointed for a while. There were some troubles that came to an end.’

If the chance to play for Mourinho again is enough to alter the Spaniard’s mind is yet to be seen. Also the £42 million price tag for a player reaching the latter stages of his career could also be problematic.
