Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is set to do battle with Jose Mourinho in this summer’s transfer window according to reports in the Daily Express, with Fenerbahce defender Simon Kjaer being the man who’s signature they both want to secure.
The Express has reported that Klopp has sent scouts to view the £17 million rated defender who has also attracted attention from a number of other Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Chelsea.
Klopp is expected to be looking to improve his defensive options this summer and is said to be impressed with the experienced Danish defender who has previously played for Wolfsburg, Lille, Roma and Palermo.
A stumbling block to a potential transfer is that Kjaer has recently stated his wish remain playing his football in Turkey. Speaking to Turkish news outlet the 28-year old stated: ‘I have no intention of leaving Turkey, Turkish football has taught me a lot.’
‘I have improved to have more responsibility, some of the matches I have played are like something I haven’t experienced anywhere in the world.’
