Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Ahmed Hossam Hussein Abdelhamid, popularly known as Mido, has revealed his desire to one day return to the north London club and manage them.

The 35-year-old was with the club for 18 months between 2005-2007, finding the back of the net on 19 occasions in 61 appearances.

Mido called time on his playing career six years later aged 30, and he kicked off his career in the dugout a year later, going on to manage Egyptian sides Zamalek, Ismaily and Wadi Degla.

Managing Spurs is somewhere on his wishlist, and it remains to be seen if that big dream will ever come true.

"I would love to manage Tottenham one day, that's my dream - to manage in the Premier League and to manage Tottenham," Mido said recently on the Soccer AM podcast via Sky Sports.
"It's not easy because I am not English, but I am trying to make the right steps and the right education, maybe I will try to be an assistant somewhere for two or three years and then see what happens.
"I know it's not easy but my dream is to be Tottenham manager."

The 2006 Africa Cup of Nations winner won the Egypt Cup for Zamalek during his first stint in charge, but has been out of work since the end of the 2016-17 campaign.

Mido also played for the likes of Middlesbrough, Wigan Athletic and West Ham United in the English top-flight, and sure knows one or two things about the EPL after spending six years plying his trade in England.

The well-travelled ex-striker no doubt has the desire and charisma to be a great manager, but he isn't anywhere near calling the shots at a side like Tottenham right now.

Should he learn the ropes and eventually prove himself at a top club in one of Europe's big leagues, just maybe Mido's Spurs dream will one day come to pass.

Mauricio Pochettino remains in charge at the London club, and only recently signed a contract extension until the summer of 2023, so Mido will have to wait a little longer to pursue his lofty dreams.
