Lloris praises his side for intelligence following Inter victory

Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris has said that it was the “intelligence” of his side which helped them to defeat Inter Milan 1-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday.
With just over 10 minutes left in the game, Spurs looked like they were headed for yet another frustrating elimination from Europe’s Premier Club competition. However, Christian Eriksen and Moussa Sissoko combined well to set up the Danish international for the winning goal during the 80th minute.
The result means that Spurs move above Inter and into second place in Group B on the tie-breaker criterion which is the head-to-head record between the two clubs.
The first game between the two teams which was played at the San Siro was won 2-1 by Inter but as both of the sides have scored two goals against each other, the away goal which was scored by Spurs now counts as double.
Despite this, Inter will still be the favourites of neutrals to advance at the expense of Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Next up for the Lilywhites is a tough task against Barcelona at the Camp Nou, a game which they will have to win.
Inter meanwhile will next play against PSV Eindhoven and will be the favourites to beat the Dutch club who have so far managed only one point in the Champions League.
"We played in a clever way [against Inter]," Lloris said on Sky Sports.
"We were very intelligent on the pitch. We were patient, that was the key.
"Especially against an Italian team, they were very well organised, they play good football and deserve a lot of credit.
"Now, there is still one game to play [in Europe], it is going to be tough. We were fighting against Inter from the beginning because Barcelona are the favourite.
"We now need to focus on the league. It's going to be a big game against Arsenal."
