Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon has issued a warning to Burnley ahead of his sides Premier League clash against the Clarets on Monday.
Both sides have made poor starts to the season and have managed to get nine points from their opening 12 games. In terms of form, the Magpies have had the upper hand during recent games. Their last game was also a 2-1 victory over high-flyers AFC Bournemouth.
Rafa Benitez’s side has managed to claim several points from their past four games. By contract, the Clarets have managed just one point during that same period which came during their 0-0 draw against Leicester City in their last fixture.
They also suffered two thrashings during that period as they went down 4-0 against Chelsea and 5-0 against Manchester City.
Something which Sean Dyche’s men can take heart from is the fact that they will be playing on home turf. Both sides could be relegation contenders for this season unless they start producing positive results during the coming weeks.
Rondon will be looking to add to his tally after having scored a brace during the game against the Cherries.
Speaking ahead of the game, the 29-year-old told The Chronicle:
“We go to Burnley in good spirits but also knowing that the Premier League is very difficult.
“Things can change from week to week. That’s because every team is at such a high level and no matter whether you are home and away each team is going to have a great chance of three points.
“Most importantly we have to be up for the battle. We have to be ready.
“We’ll have to do the same things we did in the wins against Bournemouth and Watford.”
