West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere is nearing a return to first-team action following nearly three months on the sidelines according to a report published by The Daily Mail.
The 26-year-old last appeared for the Hammers during their game against Wolves on September 1. The Englishman has a chance of featuring on the bench during his sides match against reigning Premier League Champions Manchester City. If he does not feature against the Cityzens, he is expected to do so against Newcastle United the following week.
Wilshere does have a long-history of injury problems which have curtailed his progress as a player and the Hammers medics will need to be careful so as to not rush him into action.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side have so far endured a mixed-start to the campaign. They lost their opening four games but have since recovered and now have 12 points from their 12 games played so far.
The return of Wilshere will be welcome news to the Hammers setup who will now need to start delivering if they want to ensure a strong finish on the top half of the standings this season.
One of the Hammers weak points has been their attack. Marko Arnautovic has been the standout performer as he has so far scored five goals from 11 games in the League. Wilshere on his good days is one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League and if he manages to find form, he could combine well with Arnautovic to create a potent attack for Pellegrini.
