‘Once a blue, always a blue,’ some Premier League fans react after Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United sack

A section of the Premier League fans took to the media to express their views following Jose Mourinho’s dismissal from the head coach position at Manchester United. The Portuguese tactician has been under pressure since the early stages of the ongoing campaign and things only got worse during the previous weekend where the Red Devils suffered a damaging 3-1 defeat at Liverpool.

As such, there was the presumption that the 55-year-old’s position would be seriously analysed by the United hierarchy and the club have now officially announced that they have parted ways with the experienced manager. Amidst this, there has been plenty of reaction from both United and rival Premier League supporters elsewhere and here are some of the best tweets we have collected;

Three years and a day since Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea. His dad was sacked by Rio Ave at Christmas in 1984 as well.

Mourinho had taken United to their best-ever Premier League finish since the Sir Alex Ferguson era during the previous campaign and there had been the expectation that the club could make the next level to compete for the title. However, right from pre-season, United struggled to find any sort of form and the same has pretty much remained the case during the current Premier League season where the Portuguese found himself experiencing a shrewd relationship with a section of the first-team players.

At present, Michael Carrick has been handed charge for the training duties for the forthcoming days but the club have confirmed that a replacement would be announced before the weekend league game against Cardiff City. According to Sky Sports News, ex-Manchester United ace Laurent Blanc has recently emerged as a probable candidate to take over the reigns for the season, although the Frenchman has been out of management since parting ways with Paris Saint-Germain two years ago.
