Former Liverpool star Stan Collymore has taken to Twitter and predicted that it will be Newcastle who will emerge victorious when the Magpies face off against West Ham on Saturday.
Newcastle will head into the side as the more confident side. The Magpies started this season in dreadful fashion and looked almost certain to be relegation candidates for this season judging by the manner in which they were playing. However, their performances have since improved and they have managed to win their last three consecutive games to move away from the drop-zone.
West Ham meanwhile experienced a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Manchester City last weekend. However, the Hammers have been unpredictable this season and if Marko Arnautovic manages to deliver for them, anything could be possible.
They will also be boosted by the fact that they could welcome back Jack Wilshere and Andy Caroll during the game. Wilshere has not played for the past three months. Meanwhile Caroll has not tasted any competitive action since the start of the season. Â Even though Pellegrini’s side were mauled last weekend, it came against a City side who are capable of mauling many teams in the League, even some who are on the top half of the standings.
This game will be hard to predict. It could just go anywhere depending on who turns up on the day. Manuel Pellegrini arguably has a slightly more gifted team at his disposal but Rafa Benitez has instilled a sense of discipline and organization within the Magpies team and even though they lack quality, this was what managed to keep them in the top-flight last season.
