Everton in the race to sign experienced Russian star, player open to January move

Premier League side Everton have reportedly rekindled their interest in signing Artem Dzyuba from Zenit St Petersburg during the ongoing transfer window. The Toffees were linked with the imposing striker after his exploits for Russia at the summer World Cup but a deal failed to materialised back then.
However, according to Russian outlet RT, the club are prepared to make a fresh approach for the marksman as they aim to fulfil the requirement for a goal-scoring centre-forward. It is added that the 30-year-old would favour a move to the Premier League and this should provide a potential boost for Marco Silva’s men with a short period left before the transfer deadline.
The Merseyside outfit are understood to be eyeing a short-term loan move for the Russia international and the deal could be worthwhile, considering both Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have struggled to score regularly leading the line. Dzyuba has been decent with his performances for Zenit during the ongoing campaign and he has contributed five goals and two assists in the Russian Premier League to date.
The Russian does not offer the pace required on the counter-attack but he is nonetheless a strong aerial threat with good hold-up play and that could make a difference to the Toffees’ fortunes upfront. Richarlison has been regularly fielded as the lone striker to compensate for other forwards but it can be said that the Brazilian is more effective when featuring from the left wing.
Everton have experienced a downtrend in league form over the past month and their recent defeat at Southampton sees them 11th on the standings with a three-point deficit to seven-placed Watford, who could potentially secure the final Europa League qualification spot when the season concludes.
