Leeds boss Biesla reveals what he will do if key-player cannot play against Derby County

Leeds United manager Marcelo Biesla has revealed that he will play Tyler Roberts if Pablo Hernandez cannot play during his sides clash against Derby County on Friday.

The 33-year-old has been an important member of Biesla’s first-team this season. He has so far played 19 League games for the club, scoring several goals and contributing ten assists.

Given how important Hernandez is to the first-team plans of the Whites, it would be a massive blow if he is unable to play in any of their games.

Hernandez has clearly been one of the best Leeds players this term as they look to win promotion to the top-flight for the first time since 2004.

However, even though the game against Frank Lampard’s Derby promises to be difficult, Biesla must not take any chances with the Spaniard. If he is carrying a slight injury, he must not be risked.

Biesla has since revealed to BBC Sport Journalist Adam Pope that he will play Roberts if Hernandez is unable to play against the Rams.

Biesla said

"Roberts will play (no 10) if Hernandez does not. Against QPR he had three chances to score which is very good for a number 10.

"But he didn’t build the offensive play which could have helped the attacks. Pablo builds the attacks whilst Roberts focuses on finishing the attacks."

As Championship leaders, Leeds will back themselves against Lampard’s side. The Yorkshire giants have however not been in great form recently. They have lost their past two games in all competitions against the likes of QPR (in the FA Cup) and Nottingham Forest (Championship).
