Marco Silva comments on James McCarthy transfer speculation

Everton manager Marco Silva has seemingly played down speculation that midfielder James McCarthy will leave the club this month on loan.

The injury prone midfielder is seemingly surplus to requirements at Goodison Park and has failed to make a single Premier League appearance for the club so far this season.

A number of clubs including West Bromwich Albion, Aston Villa, Fulham, Newcastle United and AFC Bournemouth have all been linked with moves for McCarthy.

At 28-years-old, McCarthy is at the prime of his career and he will surely be getting frustrated by his lack of first-team action with the Toffees.

The Republic of Ireland international joined the Merseysiders from Wigan Athletic in 2013. He was a first-team regular for the club particularly when it was being managed by Roberto Martinez and has so far played 107 League games for the club, scoring six goals.

McCarthy is a quality player who can easily fit into many of the first-teams in the Premier League. Everton must not consider letting him drift away from their first-team plans altogether just as yet.

However, they should certainly consider sending him on a loan spell with another club until the end of the season in order to gain much needed match fitness.

Speaking ahead of his sides game against Bournemouth this weekend, Silva was asked about the future of McCarthy and he replied as quoted by the Birmingham Mail saying:

"This moment is not something in my mind."
