Sky Sports Pundit Matt Le Tissier is disappointed with Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham as he reportedly turned down a move to Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers this month.
Abraham has been one of the standout performers in the Championship this season as he has scored 16 goals thus far for Villa.
His impressive performances led to interest from Premier League high-flyers Wolves. However, instead of making a switch to the top-flight side, the youngster reportedly opted to stay at Villa Park and try to try and help his current club to win promotion to the Premier League next season.
Abraham played for Villa on Saturday as they fell to a 3-0 defeat against Wigan Athletic. The defeat for Dean Smith’s side is their second consecutive 3-0 loss in all competitions after they were also dumped out of the FA Cup 3-0 by Swansea City.
Abraham has already adapted to the environment at Villa Park and moving to a new club this month would have required him to adapt to new surroundings- which does not always go smoothly. This probably also influenced his decision to stay in the Championship for the time-being.
Le Tissier however feels that the player should have made the switch to Nuno’s side as he feels that he is ready for Premier League football.
“I think they [Wolves] need somebody else up there,” Le Tissier told Soccer Saturday on 12/01/2019 at 12:30 pm.
“He [Abraham] is in such a rich vein of form.
“This [Abraham news] has got to be a bit disappointing for Wolves because the confidence this boy is playing with at the minute, I think he would have been a really good addition.”
