Report: Linked away Leeds United defender could be set to stay

Linked away Leeds United defender Conor Shaughnessy could be set to remain at the club this month according to a report published by Leeds Live.
Shaughnessy had been linked with a move Scottish Premiership side Hearts on loan till the end of the season.
Shaughnessy has fallen down the pecking order at Leeds since Marcelo Biesla was appointed as the club’s manager.
He has yet to make an appearance for the club in the Championship this term and clearly needs a move away from the club in order to revitalize his career.
Just a few weeks ago, it would have been looking all set for Shaughnessy to leave the club this month and it is unlikely that he will have much of a future at the club beyond this season.
However, the duo of Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi are still recovering from injuries. This means that for now, Pontus Jansson is the only recognized central defender who Biesla has available to him.
Shaughnessy could just remain with the Whites squad till the end of the season in order to add depth and cover in defence.
However, if the Whites end up being promoted next season, it is unlikely that he will be part of their plans. In that case, they will ideally look to bring in players who already have Premier League experience.
He should be one of the players to leave as they look to make space in the squad.
