West Ham completed the signing of former Manchester City and Arsenal star Samir Nasri on Monday. Nasri joins the Hammers on a deal which will run till the end of the season, but there is an option to extend it further.
Nasri makes a return to professional football with the Hammers after having been slapped with an 18-month ban after he was found guilty of doping.
The former French international was last on the books of Turkish outfit Antalyaspor before he left them last January. He is free to play again as of January 1st. The Hammers have done the right thing by bringing in Nasri to the club.

At 31-years-old, he may not be the destructive player that he once was during his days with City and Arsenal, but he still has what it takes to perform well at the highest level. The fact that he has managed to win over a contract at the club after spending the past few months training with them surely indicates that Manuel Pellegrini has been impressed by what he has seen.
In addition to this, the attacking midfield has been a problem for the East Londoners this season. Manuel Lanzini is set to be out of action for the rest of the season while Jack Wilshere is very injury prone and tends to spend more time on the side lines than on the pitch.
Nasri is definitely a good signing for the Hammers and is capable of scoring and assisting many goals for them as they look to ensure a strong finish on the top half of the standings this season.
Nasri appears to be excited to be back in the Premier League as according to a report published by Sky Sports, he said:
“You choose a club because of the ambition, and I think that West Ham has everything to be one of the biggest clubs in London, for sure.
“I mean, 60,000 people every game at home, we play in the Olympic Stadium. The training ground is there and you have owners who want to invest and have a good team. Everything is there to be doing great things.
“Coming back to the most competitive league in the world, with a team full of ambition with a manager that I know. It’s the best job in the world, and I’m really excited about it.”
