A few Tottenham Hotspur fans have expressed their displeasure over the performance of Juan Foyth during the club’s surprise 2-1 league defeat at the hands of Burnley on the road.
Mauricio Pochettino made the surprise decision to play Foyth ahead of Davinson Sanchez from the starting lineup against the Clarets with Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen occupying the other central defensive positions.
However, his performance was far from impressive and the supporters were particularly unimpressed with his marking of Chris Wood from the corner, where the New Zealander headed in the opening goal for the hosts.
Foyth is as nervous around the ball as I am around my cheque book

Foyth to me is a D/M not a C/H Why rotate if Sanchez is okay

Foyth yet again way to weak. How does he start ahead of Sanchez? A school girl would out muscle him ffs

I’m Foyth’s biggest fan but he has been at the top end of his ‘high risk defending’ curve today. I absolutely love him, but he certainly has kinks to iron out.

He was supposed to remove Rose n put Davies also Aurier is useless we need Trippier. You also can't have Sanchez out. Foyth continues with his silly mistakes costing the team. #Come_On_You_Spurs

Why exactly was Foyth marking Alderweireld on that corner??

Foyth has been horrendous today, Sanchez really should’ve played today

Foyth has impressed with his passing attributes over the course of the current campaign but they have been occasions where he has lacked concentration and lost out on physical battles with opposition marksman.
With the defeat, Spurs face a potential title blow, given they could drop eight points behind the lead of the table, should Liverpool overcome Manchester United on the road on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Pochettino may rethink the position of Foyth ahead of the midweek London derby against Chelsea and it won’t come as a surprise, if Sanchez returns to the backline for the Stamford Bridge trip.
