Everton manager Marko Silva has said that Yerry Mina remains a doubt for his side’s Premier League clash with Cardiff City tonight.
The Colombia international initially fell out-of-favour under Silva during the festive period, and after 45 minutes against Millwall in the FA Cup, he has been sidelined with an ankle injury.
Speaking ahead of the South Wales trip (Liverpool Echo), Silva said that Mina remains doubtful to make the match-day squad, and a late fitness test may determine whether he can make the trip.
“Mina is a doubt but we have one more session and we will see how he is”
The Toffees have gone through a tough run over the past 14 league matches, where they have managed to register just three victories under Silva’s tutelage.
As such, there has been immense pressure on the Portuguese, but Everton have a good chance of turning things around against Cardiff after an extended break from action.
Unlike other sides, the Toffees have spent more than two weeks without a fixture after playing a league game in advance against Manchester City, and the break should have given them sufficient time to regroup.
Everton are currently seven points adrift of seventh placed Watford in the standings, and they really need to start winning games on a consistent basis, if they are to qualify for Europe.
And what better way to start than by beating Cardiff tonight.
