Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have urged the club to consider a contract extension for Toby Alderweireld, following a Boot room chat video released on their official Twitter account.
The Belgium international has been a key figure behind Spurs’ progress over the past few years, and during this period, he has formed an impressive partnership with Jan Vertonghen at the heart of the club’s backline.
Tottenham confirmed at the start of last month that they have exercised their option to extend the 29-year-old’s contract for another year, according to Football.London.
This means that Alderweireld will be available for just £25 million at the end of the season according to Sky Sports, however, and many Spurs fans want their club to offer the defender a new deal, in order to avoid losing him for what would be peanuts in today’s market…

Such a great professional. If he’s not signing a new contract, I blame the club. Definitely has years left in him!

Doesn’t sound like a man wanting to leave, just pay him what he’s worth and he will stay!

Alderweireld experienced a tough campaign last season, when a serious hamstring injury meant that Davinson Sanchez was drafted into the lineup to partner Vertonghen in his place.
He has managed to redeem himself by winning over Mauricio Pochettino’s confidence again this term, but it remains to be seen whether this will lead to him extending his contract.
