Report: Arsenal lead race to sign £40m Premier League ace

Arsenal are the front-runners to sign Crystal Palace full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to a report from The Sun.

The British tabloid are reporting that the Gunners are interested in signing the 21-year-old right-back following his impressive performances for the Eagles.

It’s also said that Wan-Bissaka possesses the qualities the Arsenal boss Unai Emery wants in the right-back position

Arsenal would have to match Palace’s £40 million valuation of Wan-Bissaka, however, if they want to bring him to the Emirates in the summer.

The Sun suggests that the north London club could face keen competition from Premier League rivals Everton, however, who were the first club said to register interest in the England Under-21 international.

The Crystal Palace defender has been capped at Under-21 level for England but Wan-Bissaka hasn’t earned his first call-up to Gareth Southgate’s squad yet.

Arsenal suffered a blow earlier this season when Spain international Hector Bellerin suffered a serious knee injury, and was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the campaign.

Since the Spaniard has been ruled of action, Emery has been forced to field veteran Swiss defender Stephan Lichtsteiner at right back, and it is clearly evident that he is a long way off the pace in the Premier League.

Wan-Bissaka would be an excellent signing for Arsenal, and a definite upgrade on Lichtsteiner, but whether Emery will be prepared to part with £40 million for his services remains to be seen.
