Tammy Abraham has scored 21 of Aston Villa’s 68 goals this season.
As Chelsea have gotten themselves a two-window ban for breaching 29 transfer rules, the Blues will be able to sell players, but not register any new signings and a return to Stamford Bridge could be on the horizon for Abraham.
The 21-year-old leaving the club will be a huge blow, and Dean Smith might therefore have to starting thinking about life without the England U21 international.
That said, here are some brilliant ideas the club could sign in the summer:
1) TAMMY ABRAHAM – CHELSEA
Judging on how impressive his loan tenure has been productive for the club, and his prowess in the Championship, Villa can not be ruled out in the race to sign the striker on a permanent basis.
However, with the youngster set to be scouted by numerous English outfits, both in the top and second tier, Villa might have their work cut-out.
2) OLIVIER GIROUD – CHELSEA
Olivier Giroud might be deemed surplus to requirements after this season.
Aston Villa would obviously have to secure promotion in order to make a deal for the France international at all possible, however.
3) ALFRED FINNBOGASON – AUGSBURG
The 53-cap Iceland international has scored ten goals and chipped in with three assists so far this season for the Bundesliga side.
Finnbogason, who turned 30 last month, is a proven scorer in front of goal, and could be a cheaper option for the Villans judging at how figures are skyrocketed recently.
4) DANIEL STURRIDGE – LIVERPOOL
A £12 million signing from Chelsea, Sturridge arrived at Liverpool under Brendan Rodgers and was pivotal in the Northern Irish manager’s long-term plan for the club.
However, he’s not the same player he was for Liverpool six years ago, and with his contract close to expiry, Villa could bag the 26-cap former England international for free.
5) DANNY WELBECK – ARSENAL
The 28-year-old doesn’t seem likely to be part of Unai Emery’s rebuilding plan at Arsenal in the long-run and could be in line to face the exit door at the end of the season.
Currently out of action with an ankle injury, the Englishman is close to returning to full fitness, and he would be an excellent addition for Villa.
