Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has opened up about his future at the North London club.
The Denmark international has been linked with an exit from Tottenham, but the 27-year-old insists that his future is yet to be decided.
The former Ajax man suggested that his future is in the hands of his agent, and claimed that he has had talks with the club regarding an extension.
Eriksen said, via his quote from Danish news outlet BT:
“No – not what I know at least.
“There are so many rumours. But you are journalists, so it’s your job to find out what’s right and wrong. I have my agent to take care of it [contract talks] so I can focus on playing football. Then we see in the end where it ends. There have been talks with Tottenham many times. I have not felt that they will throw me out yet”.
With Eriksen’s future up in air, it will be interesting to seen whether Tottenham actually make a bold play to keep hold of one of their key players.
The 27-year-old is a well-known talent in the Premier League, and for Spurs to lose a player of his calibre would be a huge blow to the club.
There is a report from the Mirror which claims Real Madrid’s new boss Zinedine Zidane is a huge admirer of the Dane, and with just 15 months remaining on his current deal, a move to the Spanish capital could be on the cards for the Spurs ace.
And should the European reigning champions come knocking for this services, it will be tough for Tottenham to convince him to stay.
