Report: £20m could be enough for Leicester to seal swoop for red-hot 28-goal striker

Scottish side Rangers have slapped a mouth-watering £20 million fee on Leicester City target Alfredo Morelos, who has been linked with a move to Leicester following the arrival of Brendan Rodgers.

Rangers managing director Stewart Robertson, while speaking during a Q&A session in New Zealand, admits the club would be looking at a similar fee their rivals Celtic sold Moussa Dembele to Olympique Lyonnais.

He said, according to Daily Record:

“We rate (Alfredo) Morelos at least the same as (Moussa) Dembele in terms of value.”

Dembele’s move to the French side was on a five-year deal last year, and it seems as though Rangers would expect to recoup at least what the Hoops did for the Frenchman.

With Rodgers to be backed with a £200million transfer kitty, according to The Sun, over his three-year contract at the King Power Stadium, this would represent excellent value for money for the Foxes with more available funds to spend on other acquisitions.

Morelos scored 29 goals in 55 appearances for Rangers in all outings last season, and he has already netted 28 goals in 42 outings for the Gers this season, according to Soccerbase.

Brendan Rodgers knows all about Morelos following his time at Scotland with Celtic, but it remains to be seen whether the Colombian would be a hit for the Foxes in the Premier League.
