Report: Everton interested in signing 71-capped international

Everton are considering a move to sign Newcastle United centre-forward Salomon Rondon at the end of the season, as reported by the Daily Star.

The 71-cap Venezuelan international is currently plying his trade with the Magpies on loan from West Bromwich Albion, and he has been in brilliant form, netting 10 goals and registering five assists so far this season.

Rondon, was down the perking order under Tony Pulis while at West Brom, but saw his stock rise under Rafa Benitez.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle can match West Brom’s price-tag to sign the 29-year-old on a permanent deal.

With the Magpies owner Mike Ashley always reluctant in splashing cash on signing a player without a re-sale value, Everton are reportedly waiting in the wings to take advantage of this situation.

The Toffees’ attack has not been the same since the sale of Romelu Lukaku and whilst the addition of Rondon would be a marquee signing, it remains to be seen whether he is actually the player that Everton need.
