Report: Everton lining up summer swoop for 28-year-old from Premier League rivals

Everton are reportedly weighing up an approach to sign Kieran Trippier from Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season.

The Toffees have utilised the services of Seamus Coleman and Jonjoe Kenny in the right-back position this term, but it appears that Marco Silva is keen on adding more quality in the position.

According to The Sun, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino could be prepared to part ways with Trippier, with Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka earmarked as the prime choice to replace the England international.

The 28-year-old has been a regular for Spurs over the past two years, but he his form has dipped drastically since the World Cup last summer.

And it now seems Pochettino is prepared to sanction his sale, with The Sun claiming that Everton could emerge as the leading contenders to pursue him in a deal worth £20m this summer.

Trippier may have experienced a tough season with the north London side this term, but he has still been effective on most occasions and has contributed one goal and five assists across all competitions.

At present, standing Toffees captain Coleman has been the outright choice when it comes to right-back duties, but the potential recruitment of Trippier should intensify the competition while possibly dropping him down the order.

Both players have gone through their own respective struggles this term, but Trippier has been much better from an offensive perspective.

And the Tottenham ace would surely be an upgrade on the ageing Everton man.
