Report: West Ham to reignite interest in 20-cap international

West Ham will reportedly attempt to sign Torino striker Andrea Belotti in the summer, after a failed move for the Italian in January.

It is expected to be a busy summer for the Hammers due to questions marks over the futures of their current forwards Marko Arnautovic, Andy Carroll, Javier Hernandez and Lucas Perez.

As reported by CalcioMercato, Belotti seems to be the club’s first choice option when the window reopens in the summer.

However, the Hammers are braced to face competition from a number of clubs, with the Italian news outlet mentioning AS Roma as one of the sides interested in the 20-cap Italy international.

Roma’s interest, however, doesn’t seem enough to deter Manuel Pellegrini’s side making another move for Belotti, after seeing a £45m bid rejected in January.

Belotti is an impressive centre-forward, and has been brilliant for the Italian side. He netted 28 goals during the 2016/17 season with eight assists in all outings and followed that up with 13 goals and seven assists last season.

However, he has managed just 12 goals in 30 games for the Serie A side this season.

Whilst a £45m bid was rejected for Belotti in January, it remains to be seen whether an improved bid would be enough to tempt Torino into selling.

The 25-year-old would undoubtedly be a superb addition for West Ham, but whether the club’s board back Manuel Pellegrini sufficiently enough remains to be seen.
