A section of England supporters were left unimpressed with the showing of Declan Rice during last night’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro at the Gradski stadium.
The West Ham United ace was handed his maiden start for the Three Lions in the away encounter, and he had a relatively solid game, barring the opposition’s goal where he could have reacted better.
The midfielder was partly to blame for the opening strike in the 15th minute after he was caught ball watching without making an attempt to restrict the shot on goal, and this did not please some sections of England fans.
I’ll be the first to admit rice is having a shocker atm

Really poor from Declan Rice. Caught ball watching at far too late to react

Rice has barely put a foot wrong for the Hammers during the course of the Premier League campaign, and this has seen him rewarded with successive appearances for England at the Euro 2020 qualifiers.
Nonetheless, he needs to prove his consistency if he is to become indispensable to the team, and given the fact that he is only 20-years-old, the criticism that he received last night is perhaps a little harsh.
England cruised to a comfortable 5-1 win over Montenegro, and this has put them comfortably at the top of their qualifying group, having beaten the Czech Republic by a 5-0 scoreline in the opener.
