‘Top performance’, ‘Great to see’: Some Liverpool fans loved 30-year-old’s display vs Burnley

Liverpool managed to secure a comfortable 4-2 win over Burnley yesterday, a result which helped them keep pace with Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.

Both Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino scored braces which contributed towards the Reds’ return to winning ways, but there was one surprise for the supporters in the starting XI.

With James Milner sidelined through injury, Jurgen Klopp opted to offer a rare league start for Adam Lallana, and the move paid off, with the Englishman regularly linking up play with the forwards.

Lallana could not muster a goal or an assist to his name but he was still effective with his tireless work-rate on the playing field which caught the eyes of some Liverpool fans on Twitter.

Lallana has had his fair share of injury concerns over the past 20 months, and has dropped down the pecking order at Anfield with more defensively-minded midfielders like Naby Keita and Fabinho getting the nod over him.

Still, the England international has shown that he can step up his game when given the opportunity to impress, and it will be interesting to see whether he can now cement a regular role in the starting line-up after excelling against the Clarets.
