Tottenham Hotspur eyeing up summer swoop for £25m-rated defender

According to a report from The Guardian, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have rekindled their interest in signing Celtic star Kieran Tierney ahead of the summer transfer window.

Having failed to sign a single player during the last two transfer windows, it is expected to be a busy summer for the North London club.

Tierney and Jack Grealish are the most high-profile names on Spurs’ summer shortlist, with the likes of Sean Longstaff, David Brooks, Jarrod Bowen, Harvey Barnes and Max Aarons also said to be a possible targets.

Tierney is talented youngster, and is considered one of the best left-backs in the Scottish Premiership. The 12-capped Scotland international has all the necessary qualities required to compete at the top, and he would be a shrewd addition for Tottenham.

Not really a goal scoring left-back, Tierney prioritises his defensive duties, although he has racked up six assists this season, and he’s a proven first-team starter with Celtic, having registered 36 appearances in all outings this term.

There are also reports suggesting Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is considering a £25million move for the 21-year-old.

A move to Tottenham would surely be more appealing to the Scot, however.

A strong fan favourite at Parkhead, Tierney loves the club dearly, but it remains to be seen whether or not he will be able to reject an offer from a top Premier League club.
