Barcelona-owned Andre Gomes has been one of Everton’s standout performers this season, and it is no surprise that he has attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Gomes joined Everton in a £1.94m (€2.25m) loan deal last summer, with the Merseysiders paying his £110,000-a-week wages.
A report from The Telegraph says the North London club want to sign Gomes from Barcelona, with a reported £30 million transfer on cards.
Everton as well, are weighing up their options to sign the midfielder on a permanent deal, with Toffees boss Marco Silva recently suggesting that he wants to keep the 29-cap Portugal international at Goodison Park next season.
The Portuguese playmaker has proved a big hit with the Toffees supporters, but he would be better off joining Tottenham.
Gomes doesn’t seem to have a future with Barcelona, and joining Spurs instead of Everton would be a big step-up in his career.
With Christian Eriksen looking likely to leave Tottenham this summer, Gomes might just be the club’s best replacement for the Denmark international.
The Portugal international would surely improve under Mauricio Pochettino’s tutelage, and should Spurs comes knocking in the summer, he should welcome the North London club’s approach.
