Last weekend, already-relegated Fulham taught Everton a footballing lesson, beating the Toffees 2-0 at Craven Cottage.
A particular highlight of Fulham’s win was tireless striker Aleksandar Mitrovic’s display, with the Serbian showing Everton what they are missing in the attacking department.
The Toffees would do well to sign the 24-year-old this summer, in a move that would add much-needed tenacity, power, and energy to their frontline.
Although Mitrovic didn’t score against Everton, he was involved in every attack, winning every aerial duel, chasing down every loose ball, and granting Fulham players space with his intelligent movement.
The contrast to the Everton attack could not have been more stark.
While Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun failed to score against the league’s worst defence, Mitrovic showed how to bravely lead the line for a Premier League side.
Amid Fulham’s torrid campaign, Mitrovic is one of the few players to emerge from the mess with a burgeoning reputation, with his double-digit goal tally evidence of his quality.
With Aleksandar Mitrovic unlikely to follow Fulham into the Championship, Everton must swoop for the Serbian international this summer.
And it could turn out to be a signing that helps take them to another level next season.
