‘He could be very special’: Some Liverpool fans laud 24-year-old’s display vs Southampton

A selection of Liverpool supporters have praised the performance of Naby Keita, who scored his maiden goal for the club against Southampton on Friday night.

The Reds faced a must-win game in order to reclaim the lead in the Premier League table, and they managed to do just that, despite not making the best of starts at St Mary’s.

Shane Long opened the scoring for the Saints in just the ninth minute of the game, and the South Coast outfit could have quite easily doubled the advantage shortly after.

The Reds, however, gathered momentum as the game continued, and Keita’s header in the 36th minute ensured that they went into the break with a 1-1 scoreline.

In the second half, the Reds were very much the dominant side, but they had to wait until the 80th minute to secure the lead after a fantastic goal from Mohamed Salah on the counter-attack, which ended his eight-match scoring drought.

Skipper Jordan Henderson came off the bench to score the Reds’ third goal of the match, but a few fans were particularly pleased for Keita, who has experienced a difficult first season at the club.
