Jurgen Klopp dealt transfer blow: Liverpool target prefers move abroad

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been dealt a blow ahead of this summer’s transfer window in the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach ace Thorgan Hazard.

Hazard, the younger of brother of Chelsea star Eden Hazard, is reportedly set to snub the Reds in favour of joining Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund.

German publication Kicker are reporting the 21-cap Belgium international has ‘given his word’ to join Borussia Dortmund in the summer, with a £36 million fee reportedly on table from the Bundesliga side.

However, a counterclaim from Belgian media outlet DH has surfaced revealing Liverpool have stepped in with a late bid that is worth more than Dortmund’s initial £36 million offer to sign the playmaker.

As things stand, though, Gladbach would surely prefer to sell Hazard to an English club, rather than a direct rival, especially if Liverpool are offering more money.

Hazard has netted nine goals and 10 assists in the league for Monchengladbach this season, as the club remain in contention for a top-four finish this season.
