Mauricio Pochettino confirms key midfield injury boost ahead of Crystal Palace clash

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Harry Winks should be in contention to feature when his side entertain Crystal Palace in their first ever competitive game at their newly constructed stadium.

The England international has been absent since the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 clash against Borussia Dortmund with a groin problem, but he has been deemed fit for the midweek London derby after returning to training on Tuesday.

“Harry will be involved, he’s back in the squad,” Pochettino was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.

Aside from Winks, there were no other positive updates with Serge Aurier, Erik Lamela (both hamstring) and Eric Dier(muscle strain) in the treatment room, whilst Fernando Llorente is set to miss the derby as a precautionary measure following a clash of heads.

The north London side have been in poor run of form in the league with just one point garnered from the past five league matches, and this has seen them drop down to fourth spot in the table.

Nonetheless, they still have a good chance of sealing a top-four spot with five of the remaining seven league matches at home, and the first of those comes in the form of a cross-town derby against Roy Hodgson’s side.

The Eagles have already beaten Spurs earlier in the year in the FA Cup fourth round, but Pochettino’s side should fancy their chances of gaining revenge tonight.
