Premier League side Everton are reportedly set to miss out on the signing of AS Roma centre-forward Edin Dzeko in the summer transfer window.
According to a report from the Express, the Toffees are mentioned as one of the sides interested in a move for the 33-year-old forward who is still considered a top-notch striker in the Italian top-flight.
However, the Merseysiders are “unlikely” to win the race to sign Dzeko this summer, as the Express reckons the Manchester City forward would prefer a move to London over Merseyside.
Everton’s loss, however, might be a good news for West Ham, who are also keen on signing the striker and are willing to pay him around £165,000-a-week to join them, according to the Express.
The Bosnian is proven scorer in the Premier League, with 50 goals and 11 assists from 130 appearances during his time with Manchester City to his name.
Dzeko has been in decent form for Roma this season, with 12 goals to his name thus far, and he will undoubtedly be a very solid addition for whichever club wins the race for his signature.
The chance to join West Ham and to play under his former boss Manuel Pellegrini could be an appealing prospect for Dzeko, and Everton will have their work cut-out if they are to tempt him into moving to Goodison Park instead.
