Liverpool have reportedly leapfrogged their rivals in the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach star Thorgan Hazard this summer.
Hazard, the younger of brother of Chelsea star Eden Hazard, has been one of the Bundesliga’s standout performers since joining Gladbach, initially on-loan at the start of the 2014 season, before his permanent move in 2015.
The 26-year-old has 12 goals and 11 assists to his name in just 29 matches this season across all competitions, and his brilliant form has caught the eye of many top clubs across Europe.
Hazard has been strongly linked with a return back to England, after spending three years with Chelsea, joining at the same time as brother Eden.
According to a report from Belgian news outlet Nieuwsblad, Liverpool have made an offer to sign the Belgian ace, but Hazard is said to favour a move to Borussia Dortmund.
The Reds bid is reportedly said to be worth more than Dortmund’s initial £36 million offer to sign the playmaker.
The talented play-maker must be thinking that he will get more game-time at Dortmund than he would at Liverpool.
Joining Liverpool would see him competing with likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Xherdan Shaqiri just to mention a few.
As things stand, though, Gladbach would surely prefer to sell Hazard to an English club, rather than a direct rival, especially if Liverpool are offering more money.
