As Fulham take on Newcastle United in their final match of the season later today, Cottagers supporters may be preparing to bid farewell to some of the squad’s marquee players.
Ryan Sessegnon is one such player who may depart Craven Cottage in the summer, and the 18-year-old has given the strongest indication yet that he will be jumping ship.
Tottenham Hotspur fans might well be delighted at the latest noncommittal statement from the teenager, who may be set to choose north London as his next destination.
The Sun interviewed Ryan and his twin brother Steven, where both players discussed their careers and plans for the future. When asked what the summer would hold, the former made it clear he wants to keep on playing top flight football.
“Personally, I am still a Fulham player until 2020 but, of course, my aim is to play at the highest level,” Sessegnon said.
“I am not sure where the future will take me but I have always wanted to play regular Premier League football.”
The quotes will break the hearts of Fulham supporters, as Sessegnon is a player who has previously boasted of his love for the club and his passion for the Whites.
But to see the winger so ambivalent with regards to his future is a painful sight and will assure Spurs fans he is eyeing an exit.
Although Sessegnon aims to play Premier League football, he has not looked up to the task all season with Fulham.
Regardless, it seems the 18-year-old phenomenon will be on the move this summer in search of exactly that, with Spurs fans hoping it will be with their club.
With Tottenham looking to overhaul their squad this summer and manager Mauricio Pochettino renowned for his ability to work with promising young players and get the best out of them, the move should be a good one for both parties but it would be unpopular with Fulham fans.
