As Manchester United’s season draws to a close with a whimper, the prospect of the summer transfer window beckons for Red Devils supporters.
A massive overhaul is required at Old Trafford, with several first-team players tipped to be heading for the exit after a prolonged spell of disappointing performances.
But the flip side of that means that many fresh faces will be arriving at United, with Swansea winger Daniel James one such name linked with a move.
The Daily Mail reported that Manchester United were leading the chase for the 21-year-old Welshman, who is rated at around £10 million.
The prospect of acquiring a pacey and promising attacker is an exciting one for United, as James has been one of the most exciting young players in the Championship season.
He announced himself on the stage with an electrifying performance against Brentford in the FA Cup, where his searing pace bamboozled the fellow Championship side.
With four goals and an impressive nine assists in the league this season, James appears ready to make the step up to the Premier League.
He came close to moving to Leeds United in January only for Swansea to block the transfer at the last moment.
That may prove to have been a blessing in disguise – especially if the Whites do not earn promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs.
Instead, development at Manchester United would be an ideal next step for the Welshman, and James would add firepower and youth to the Red Devils’ frontline.
