Celtic can be expected to be active when the summer transfer window opens with the signing of a new right-back one of their main priorities.
There are doubts over the futures of both Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa at Celtic Park despite the former being in superb form since Neil Lennon took over from Brendan Rodgers.
If the 74-cap Sweden international remains at the club, that may enable the Bhoys to look for a cut-price option and save money to strengthen other areas of the squad.
With that in mind, Celtic could consider a summer swoop for Leicester City’s Danny Simpson, who The Daily Mail claims will be leaving the King Power Stadium on a free at the end of the season.
Simpson, a Premier League winner, is reportedly currently earning £45,000-a-week at Leicester and The Mail adds some sides in England’s top flight are considering signing him.
The 32-year-old is undoubtedly coming towards the end of his career, but that does not seem to be dissuading potential suitors.
Simpson’s availability on a free, coupled with his experience in the top flight would be a boost for the Hoops.
