Jamie Carragher has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat to Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.
Spurs suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of their Dutch opponents in the first leg of their semi-final tie at their new stadium.
Donny van de Beek scored the only goal of the match in north London in the 15th minute, and Ajax are now favourites to progress to the final.
Liverpool legend Carragher, now a pundit with Sky Sports, was following the match, and he took to Twitter to give his reaction to the final result.
He believes that Ajax deserved to win, but reckons that Tottenham can still turn around the tie, also adding that former Manchester United star Daley Blind was outstanding for Ajax.
According to WhoScored, the 29-year-old Netherlands international – who can play as a defender or as a midfielder – had a pass accuracy of 84.2%, won six headers, took 56 touches, and made four tackles, four interceptions and eight clearances.
Former Tottenham star Micky Hazard also believes that Mauricio Pochettino’s side can win the second leg and book their place in the Champions League final.
Ajax deserved the win tonight but not getting the 2nd away goal means Spurs are still well in this tie! De Jong & De Ligt very good again & look like future superstars. But thought Daley Blind was outstanding, great football brain. #TOTAJA @ChampionsLeague

Ajax were the better team and deservedly won the first leg, but the Dutch side had several chances to add to the scoreline and failed to take them.
That does give Tottenham a chance to go through, and the North London outfit certainly have players who can score two or more goals in Amsterdam in the second leg.
The second leg of the semi-final tie between Ajax and Tottenham will be played on May 8.
