Man City close in on €50m deal to sign Portuguese international

According to Sports Mediaset via WhoScored, Manchester City are reportedly in talks with Serie A champions Juventus F.C over the signing of Portuguese international Joao Cancelo in a €50m (£44.2m) deal.

City boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly in the market for a new right-back that will provide serious competition for former Tottenham Hotspur ace Kyle Walker who remains the club’s first-choice in defence.

City as well, are prepared to let Danilo leave the club in order to facilitate Cancelo’s arrival from Juventus this summer are now in talks over the Portuguese transfer to England.

According to WhoScored, Man City are also in talks to offer Danilo in a player-plus-cash deal to secure the signing of Cancelo this summer as the club’s first summer signing since winning the domestic treble.

Joao Cancelo joined Juventus last summer in a reported £35.5m fee and it would be an impressive coup this summer if Manchester City can close in on this deal for just £44.2m.

According to WhoScored stats, the stat collators claims only Jeremie Boga (3.3) and Josip Ilicic (2.5) averaged more dribbles per game than Cancelo (2.4) in Serie A last season and the 25-year-old finished in the WhoScored Team of the Season (7.20).
