An exclusive report from Football Insider has revealed Charlton Athletic are poised to sign former Celtic and Derby County midfielder Joe Ledley on a free transfer.
The former Celtic man is a free agent after leaving Derby last February when his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
A Charlton source is believed to have told Football Insider that the Red Robins has been exploring the chances of signing the free agent in a bid to bolster his injury-hit squad and he has moved to agree a short-term deal with Ledley.
Reports claimed the 32-year-old has accepted the Championship club’s offer and is set to walk in straight into their squad .
Charlton’s head-coach knows he need more firepower in his squad so that his side can cope with the busy festive period fixtures and he feels the signing of Ledley to his side would be shrewd move.
The former Celtic forward boasts of a huge wealth of experience in the top flight having had spells at Cardiff City, Celtic, Crystal Palace and with Derby County.
Ledley has made well over 200 appearances in the Championship during his career with so much experience in the Premier League, Scottish Premiership and in the international game.
The former Wales international most successful spell was during his four years at Celtic, where he was an integral part of the Hoops side that won three league titles and two Scottish Cups while he was there during 157 appearances that yielded 30 goals and 24 assists – Transfermarkt.
The central-midfielder has also won 77 caps for Wales and was a member of Chris Coleman’s side that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016.
