Arsenal are one of four Premier League sides interested in signing Glen Kamara from Rangers during the January transfer window, according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Kamara has been outstanding for the Gers. The Finland international initially agreed to join the club on a pre-contract deal last January, but the Scottish Premiership side then made the move to bring him to Ibrox immediately that same month.
And that move has proved to be a masterstroke. The defensive-midfielder has been excellent for Steven Gerrard’s side and now looks to be back to his best after a short blip earlier in the campaign.
Unsurprisingly, Kamara’s form has not gone unnoticed. The Daily Mail reports that the Gunners are monitoring the 24-year-old, while Aston Villa, Norwich City and Southampton also have Kamara on their radar.
Arsenal’s interest in Kamara is particularly surprising. The midfielder began his professional career at the Emirates and registered just one first-team appearance and was released by the Gunners in the summer of 2017.
Meanwhile, another report from the Daily Mail claims that Arsenal have scouted Kamara severally and their scouts has been present in Rangers’s last six games.
One could understand why Kamara’s Premier League admirers are looking at a move this month. This exit from Rangers will certainly command a hefty fee. But that may be nothing compared to what clubs could have to pay in the summer if any reported move fails to materialize this ongoing transfer month.
The midfielder played an important role in his country’s run to Euro 2020 qualification. And should be put in more brilliant performance for Finland, the former Dundee man will see his value rocket.
He’s an integral part of Rangers team and tempting the Gets to sell however, is going to be a huge ask.
