Barcelona have made an offer of €80m fee to sign Wissam Ben Yedder

According to Foot Mercato, Barcelona have offered an eye-watering €80m fee to sign Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder after their experienced forward Luis Suarez suffered a long term injury.

The Catalans received a huge blow at the beginning of this year when the Uruguayan’s knee surgery ruled him out of the game for a long spell.

Quique Setién’s side have been struggling to score goals in recent weeks, with their previous two league clashes against Granada and Valencia producing only a solitary goal for them.

It appears the club are missing the firepower of Suarez who alone has 11 goals and seven assists in 17 appearances this term. The La Liga side have been relying on his ruthlessness in front of goal since he came to the Nou Camp in 2014, with 142 goals in 180 appearances to his name so far.

Barcelona have been scouring the market to find a replacement for the former Liverpool hitman, and it is believed that Ben Yedder suits their requirements perfectly. Therefore, they are willing to splash a hefty €80million sum to convince the French side to let their man leave.

The Frenchman has been impressive for Robert Moreno’s side so far this season, notching 14 goals and seven assists in 19 league appearances for the club. He arrived at Monaco in a €40m deal from Sevilla in the summer, but now it appears the Catalans are willing to double that amount to bring him back to Spain.

Foot Mercato report further suggests that the two clubs have already held talks this January with the French club firm in their decision to keep hold of their star for the rest of the season. However, they could be tempted to let go of their star now that Barca have come up with such an eye-watering offer of €80m.

Should the move fails to materialize, Barcelona are believed to turn their attention on signing Valencia striker Rodrigo before the January transfer window closes.
