Celtic look set to face competition in the race to sign former player Victor Wanyama this month as Galatasaray reportedly begin talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a move for the midfielder.
Wanyama has been continuously linked with a return to Celtic this season, and Neil Lennon has also previously expressed his desire to sign the Southampton midfielder.
However according to report from Turkish news outlet Takvim, Galatasaray have made the first move by beginning talks with Spurs over a possible move for the Kenyan international.
Celtic looked set to be the only side interested in signing Wanyama in the January window given how Hertha Berlin turned their attention away from him and pursued a move for Arsenal outcast Granit Xhaka instead.
However, Celtic will now need to react to Galatasaray beginning talks with Spurs, especially considering how Jose Mourinho is said to be good friends with the Turkish side’s boss Fatih Terim.
A return to Celtic does appear the more attractive proposition for Wanyama though, given how the Hoops are still in Europe and will be competing for the league title this season.
Galatasaray were knocked out of the Champions League in the group stages and are currently in seventh place in the league, some 10 points adrift of first placed Sivasspor.
