Scottish giants Celtic F.C look set to miss out on Andraz Sporar, with the striker said to be keen on a January move to Sporting Lisbon.
The 25-year-old has previously been described as Neil Lennon’s “top target” for this month, but according to the Daily Record, the Slovenia international is “on the verge” of completing a move to Sporting.
The report reads:
“Celtic target Andraz Sporar is on the verge of sealing a £5million move to Sporting Lisbon.”
Celtic have really missed out by not signing Sporar in our opinion, and the club only have themselves to blame.
Celtic will have themselves to blame for missing out on the signing of the 25-year-old forward. The Hoops were the first side to register interest for the player’s signature and make contact with his club with intent to sign their striker.
However, despite strong reports about the club in talks with the Slovan club, Celtic failed to back up that initial interest up, allowing the likes of Sporting the chance to swoop in.
Had Celtic submitted an offer, then they could have signed a 25-year-old goalscorer who has 20 goals in 26 appearances this season for a fee of just £5million.
Sporar would have in many ways, bolstered the Glasgow club attacking options had Celtic make strong move to sign him who is now set for a move to a potential Europa League rival.
