Celtic midfielder Eboue Kouassi has joined KRC Genk on loan to spend the rest of the season. The 22-year-old midfielder arrived in Glasgow back in 2017 having joined the Hoops from Russian side FK Krasnodar. However, the Ivorian midfielder has failed to live up to expectations as a regular starter at Parkhead.
Kouassi’s development at Celtic has been blighted with a series of injury problems and has only managed to make just 22 appearances for the club in three years since joining from the Russia side.
Celtic paid in excess of £3m to secure his transfer to Scotland but seems it’s best for the player and for the club in the long term to release him in the hope he will get more game time and therefore further his development.
Following report that Kouassi has been shipped out of the club on loan for the rest of the season, Celtic fans reacted to news by taking to social networking site Twitter to express their delight:
Great news. Utterly useless

Another waste of a ‘project’ when we could have bought proven quality.

Seen him against hearts and he couldn't make a 10 yard pass that day

However, despite the high negativity surrounding Kouassi’s, there are other Celtic fans who were a little more positive regarding the Ivorian’s future at Parkhead.
Joined us at 18. Got hit with Malaria almost straight away. Rodgers shud of loaned him out at some stage. Then 14 mnth ago he done his cruciate. Fans saying he's a failed project seem to forget these events

He's had horrible bad luck at Celtic. I hope he can get his fitness back and be able to come back in the summer to claim a place in the team

I still think there's a player in there, hope he stays injury free & comes back ready for next season with us

Please boss it and come back and replicate your Zenit game everygame

First few times I saw him play, thought he was going to be a revelation.
He was quick and tenacious.
Only criticism early doors, that I could see, he was overzealous in the tackle. Picked up silly bookings— Gazzarinho (@gazzarinho1) January 23, 2020
Given the lack of opportunities Kouassi has come by at Celtic, a loan move seems best in he’s to rejuvenate his career that saw Celtic coughed £3m for his signature. KRC Genk are currently sitting 6th in the Belgian top-flight league and if he can get himself more regular competitive football, there’s no doubt be of huge benefit to a midfielder with many years still ahead of him.
