European heavyweights Atletico Madrid and AS Roma are interested in signing Jesse Lingard who could be allowed to leave by Manchester United, as per ESPN.
The 27-year-old has been enduring a difficult time at Old Trafford, with no Premier League goal or assist to his name in 20 appearances this so far this campaign.
The Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer featured him for only two minutes off the bench in his side’s uneventful 0-0 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
Lingard, who can play both as an attacking midfielder or a winger, joined Old Trafford’s academy at the age of seven and then progressed through the youth ranks to make 199 Premier League appearances and 31 goals for the club.
The England international was pushed further down the pecking order after the arrival of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon last month.
It is believed that European giants Atletico and Roma are interested in hiring his services if United allow him to leave.
While both sides are linked with transfer move for Lingard, Atletico Madrid seems the more interested side in his signature with Diego Simeone’s side currently on five lost in five matches.
The Los Rojiblancos suffered a defeat in the Madrid derby on Saturday and also went out of the Copa del Rey after losing against Cultural Leonesa in a humiliating manner.
Same cannot be said of AS Roma, who are just one point below Atalanta for the Champions League spot this season. With 40 league goals for the club this campaign, it does show they are doing better in attack and it’s hard seeing Lingard walking straight into their first-team fold.
However, it all remains to be seen how the transfer speculations will unfold in the next couple of weeks.
