Manchester United star Anthony Martial opened up on his relationship with the former Red Devils coach Jose Mourinho, as per the Daily Mirror.
The French footballer endured a difficult period at Old Trafford under Mourinho’s reign as he regularly found himself in and out of the team.
However, things have improved for the 24-year-old since the Portuguese was sacked and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge at the club.
The talented forward signed a new contract in January and now he is set to be an important part of Solskjaer’s plans.
Meanwhile, the former Chelsea manager Mourinho has also returned to management, after remaining out for almost a year.
He told RMC Sport:
“It’s true that I’d have preferred it if he’d told me directly, there’s no need to say it in front of everybody.
“After that, you definitely want to prove him wrong. He didn’t start me during the first few games and each time I came on, I scored.
“In the end, he told me: ‘You see, now you understand what I wanted’. It can get to you. You just want to show him you deserve to be on the pitch.”
The Frenchman came to Old Trafford in 2015 from Monaco and has earned 132 league appearances and scored 42 goals so far.
He has made 28 appearances for United this season across all competitions, scoring 12 goals and creating 5 assists.
