Leeds United registered a much-needed victory against Bristol City after Luke Ayling gave them an early lead on Saturday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were winless in three league matches heading into the match, but the recent victory against the Robins have helped them establish three points lead over third-placed Fulham.
However, Stephen Warnock warns that the Cottagers have the capability to beat them for the second spot by the end of the season.
Scott Parker ‘s side were thumped 3-0 at home by Barnsley while leaders West Brom suffered a draw against Nottingham Forest in their previous Championship match.
Speaking to BBC programme Final Score, Warnock claimed that Fulham are more than capable of securing automatic places by the end of the campaign.
He said:
“It’s the perfect scenario.
“It’s what you dream of when you come into the changing room after the game and you are the only ones who have picked up points in and around you.
“Leeds have been on a terrible run of late and it could be even better – I thought it was a few weeks ago [top two was done and dusted].
“I know Fulham are getting beat but the quality they have got in the squad, they are more than capable of getting back into it. But there are some many teams in there. You can down to Derby County and you think ‘they still have a chance of getting in there’.”
